Singapore Airlines offers voluntary no-pay leave for Cabin Crew
Singapore Airlines (SIA) is offering a scheme for its cabin crew to go on voluntary no-pay leave (VNPL) for three months starting from September to address a “temporary crew surplus situation”.
In an emailed statement on Thursday night (Aug 3), SIA confirmed that it is rolling out the voluntary scheme to its 8,200 cabin crew. (more…)
Skytrax 2017 Best Cabin Staff Award
June, 2nd 2017, Skytrax presented the winners of its Skytrax 2017 World Airline Awards at the Paris Air Show 2017. The Doha based carrier, Qatar Airways won the World’s Best Airline which was held by its neighbouring Dubai based carrier, Emirates.
Overall, airlines from Asia dominate the elite end of Skytrax’s rankings — taking nine of the top 10 spots. At the same time, no US airline cracked the top 30. Delta got the closest to the top with a 32nd place finish. (more…)
Air France A380 loses three tyres after safely landing at Mexico City
An Air France A380, registration F-HPJA from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Mexico City, had three tyres deflated after safely landing on Mexico City’s runway 05R on June 14th 2017, reported The Aviation Herald.
Fight AF179 was cancelled due to lack of spare tyres at MEX and both passengers and flight crew layover time was extended. Flight AF179A departed at 01:29am CDT on June 16th after being on ground for more than 33 hours.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the possible cause of the incident.
